Carbon Poker has introduced a new ranking system, which gives players a credible reference on their overall skills. It is called the "ELO system." It is a method of ranking players by assigning a base numerical score, and victories and losses in Bounty tournaments will adjust the score accordingly. Using the ELO system, all Bounty players can track their success and score via Player Admin. It will be the method used to rank players in Bounty Tournaments and SNGs. Every player is automatically registered for an ELO score (all players start out at 1500 Pts). Play as many or as little Bounty games as desired, and your Player Admin will track all your progress throughout each month.
Below is the list of prizes that can be one as part of this ranking system. See below for more details on how the ELO system works.
Monthly Leaderboard (ELO Points)
| LB Result | Cash | Coupon | Accolade | | 1 | $250 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 2 | $150 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 3 | $100 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 4 | $50 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 5 | $50 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 6 | $25 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 7 | $25 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 8 | $10 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 9 | $10 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 10 | $10 | $60 Sat | Grand Master | | 11 to 25 | $5 | $11 Sat | Master | | 26 to 50 | $5 | $5 Sat | Master | | 51 to 100 |
| $5 Sat | Champion | | 101 to 200 |
| $2 Sat | Elite |
More on the ELO system:
A player in a tournament with a below-average ELO score may eliminate a player with a high ELO score. Because the high-ranking player is effectively judged as a stronger competitor, the low-ranking player is awarded more points, because they defeated a player far above their determined skill level. Alternatively, If the high-ranking player eliminates a weak player, they will still earn points, but not nearly as many because the ELO system has ranked them as an easy opponent based on their playing history.
For this reason, the ELO system can be used effectively by any player regardless of their time commitment to the game. It rewards quality of play (defeating tough opponents, avoiding eliminations) above quantity of tournaments and number of bounties claimed. To rate highly in CarbonPoker.com's ELO system, you need to perform well with both eliminations and tournament placings.
ELO points start at 1500 each month, and the highest ranking players at the end of the month will receive leaderboard prizes. Carbon Poker will reset the counters as the month rolls over, so there's always more chances to get started with your A game.
