Red Star Poker Overview
Red Star Poker is among the first sites to cater for Russian poker fans, offering a bilingual poker experience. Red Star Poker software is powered by the well known Cake Gaming N.V. and it belongs to RSP Entertainment which is incorporated and licensed in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.
Since Red Star Poker is a relatively new site, traffic is not too high just yet – around 3000 players at Russian peak hours is about as full as it gets at the moment. But Red Star accepts American players, which will probably help with the traffic.
The site’s mission statement is:
Red Star Poker is a full service poker room supporting both English and Russian languages. Our multi-lingual platform allows players to play at the same tables in either language through our first class software to ensure a wider range of players can test their skills against different cultures. We are fully committed to providing the best possible poker experience in a safe a secure environment.
The Cake Poker Network does allow U.S. players and you can choose from poker rooms such as Cake Poker, Red Star Poker and PlayersOnly.
Red Star Poker Game Features
Red Star has only the three most popular poker varieties: Hold’em, Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo and Seven Card Stud Hi and Hi/Lo (this last one was not available at the time of writing) in the usual limits: Fixed, Pot and No limit. Stakes start at a modest $0.02/$0.04 and go all the way up to $100/$200. Ring games can be played heads up, on a short-handed 6-seat table or on a full size table with 10 players.
Sit & Gos are only available in Hold’em and Omaha, but they come in all limits. Buy-ins range between $1 and $120, and there are loyalty freerolls which can be entered using “Gold Chips.” There are also Turbo Sit & Gos in which the blinds go up every 6 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes for normal tables.
Red Star has a good variety of scheduled tourneys, which can be filtered by game and limit. Perhaps 95% of tourneys are Hold’em, with a few Omaha tourneys tossed in. Tourneys come in regular or turbo varieties, and there are options with buy-ins and add-ons (which have “R&A” after the name) as well as freezeouts. Buy-ins start low at just $0.25, and cap at $150. Freerolls, loyalty tourneys and satellites are all available at Red Star.
Red Star Poker Software Features
The graphic interface is sober and attractive, with a very well organized and easy to navigate lobby. Players can choose from a variety of photo-realistic (and not very attractive) avatars, but there is an option to turn them off altogether. The note-taking system is not immediately evident, but works alright. Hand history is easy to access and you can save it in your computer, and stats can be viewed from the table.
Red Star supports multitable play, but tables cannot be resized.
Red Star Poker Support
Red Stars’ support team can be contacted via toll-free phone numbers from Russia and the USA. All other countries can also use the email support (replies within 24 hours) or the live chat, which is manned by friendly and knowledgeable staff.
