Game Features
As a part of the Revolution Gaming Network, PowerPoker boasts high traffic at all buy-in levels. Cash games of $5/$10 NL and higher occasionally die out into the early hours of the morning, but many tables can normally be found at peak hours. Players wishing to play $3/$6 NL or lower should not have a problem finding games around the clock. PowerPoker does offer a wide variety of nosebleed cash games up to $500/$1,000 NL, some of the biggest stakes anywhere on the internet. Although these games do not run routinely, there are occasionally some fireworks when the sites featured professional Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies splashes around on the virtual felt. If the high stakes action is not your game, tables stakes go as low as $.02/$.04 for those looking for a different experience.
PowerPoker spreads a number of different variations of Poker in addition to the popular No Limit, Pot Limit and Fixed Limit Hold’em. Pot Limit Omaha is the sites second most popular game, with multiple tables running at many different buy-in levels at all hours of the day. PowerPoker also offers a nauseatingly large $500/$1,000 PLO game, as well as the more manageable $.02/$.04. Fixed Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Low, and Fixed Limit Omaha Hi/Low are also spread on PowerPoker, however the number of games running are relatively low. Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi/Low are shown as an option on the site, although no tables are available yet. Full-Ring and Six-Max tables are available for all ring games, and the No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha games also feature Heads Up play.
Software Features
PowerPoker has a number of useful software features that enhance the overall gaming experience. The lobby runs off a standard tab system that allows players to select the Tournaments or Ring games tab, and then subsequent related tabs to find the exact game they are looking for; cash game, tournament or sig-n-go. There is a filter feature that allows players to only display the games they are interested in playing as well.
PowerPoker offers two different table views, classic and simple. Classic displays a normal poker table with various people sitting around it. Players can choose from a number of different players that they can use as their avatar at the tables. The simple table view has no avatars and simply shows a round table with player’s names and chip counts along the outside. The simple view has its problems, as it can sometimes be difficult to see if a seat is empty or filled if you only give it a quick glance. As for the actual game play, all of the necessary game features are available. There are convenient “1/2 Pot” “Pot” and “All-In” buttons that make betting and raising in different increments extremely easy. Resizable tables are also available on PowerPoker, in addition to a preferred seat option, four color deck, and the ability to fold a hand and show it at the same time.
