Poker Plex Overview
PokerPlex is the offspring of online bingo provider Bingo Entertainment and poker software designer CryptoLogic. As part of the CryptoLogic Network, PokerPlex shares player base with the better known InterPoker, Totalbet Poker, Betfair and Classic Poker, which makes for very high traffic and many soft games. Traffic at peak hours is known to reach 8,000 players.
Poker Plex is a room on the Cryptologic network, along with other popular online poker rooms such as William Hill, Interpoker, and Playboy Poker.
Poker Plex Game Features
Like other sites in the Cryptologic network, PokerPlex only offers 3 poker varieties: Hold’em, Omaha (Hi and Hi/Lo) and 7 card Stud. Texas Hold’em is played in No Limit, Pot Limit and Fixed Limit; Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo are offered in Pot and Fixed Limits and 7 Card Stud is Fixed Limit only. One positive thing is that at PokerPlex you will find big stakes all the way up to £600/£1200 Fixed Limit (about $1200/$2400), or £100/£200 in No Limit (about $200/$400.)
As usual in most poker sites, traffic is concentrated at Hold’em tables, which come with 6 or 10 seats. Heads up tables are also available for all 3 games. Word on the street is that full table games tend to be tougher, while short-handed tables are soft.
PokerPlex has a great variety of Sit & Gos in heads-up, short-handed or 10-seater options, with buy-ins between $1 and $5000. An extra perk are the “Lightning” tournaments, where players have only 12 seconds to make their move, and the 6-pack tourneys which are played on short-handed tables. There are also Head Hunter tourneys, in which players get a bounty whenever they knock another one out, and increase their own Bounty as they do so.
Scheduled tournaments at PokerPlex are all bunched together under one category, which makes them difficult to sort out to find what you’re looking for. In spite of this lack of organization, their tournament traffic is very good. PokerPlex offers the usual fare: freerolls, cheap $1 tourneys, and everything in between, ranging from $2 buy-ins to £200 (about $400). 90% or more of all tourneys are No Limit Hold’em, and PokerPlex also has freerolls, satellites and special events.
Poker Plex Software Features
PokerPlex takes a while to load and run, and doe not have a very attractive interface. However, it has some interesting features to make up for it, such as a “pro view” option which reduces the table to a minimal size so that a serious multitable player could fit up to 9 in a large screen. Another option is the “dealer voice”, which calls out the dealer’s actions. Avatars have the shape of a chip, which can be customized with a small personalized image in the center. Chatting options are available, as well as note-taking and hand histories.
Poker Plex Support
PokerPlex has a very thorough FAQ which covers most questions, but if it is not enough they also offer 24/7 support via phone (using a free international 800 number) and email. Email support sends out a confirmation message before sending out the actual reply, which will usually take up to half a day. In spite of all this availability, the quality of support – both via phone and email – is rather poor in quality and information value.
