Fortune Poker Overview
Fortune Poker is one of the skins of the International Poker Network, a leader in the industry known for offering a decent game selection while using unique software. Unfortunately this site is not accepting U.S. players at the moment; however, the International Poker Network (previously known as the Boss Poker Network) has a loyal player base and the traffic of Fortune Poker is solid and evenly spread across the different games. According to the Fortune Poker website the goal of this poker room is to “offer poker players the greatest online poker experience”, promising that the customers will “always enjoy their experience with Fortune Poker.”
They share the same player base and software platform with all the other skins on the Boss Media Network, so if you have played at sites such as Canada Poker or Celeb Poker, you will feel right at home.
Fortune Poker Game Features
The game variety of this poker site is average: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Seven Card Stud and Five Card Draw are all available in the No Limit, Pot Limit and Fixed Limit variations. The stakes for the No Limit ring games vary between $0.05/$0.10 and $10/$20 and the stakes for the Limit ring games go from $0.25/$0.50 to $100/$200. At Fortune Poker the tables have a maximum of 10 seats but you can also play in heads-up tables if you want. The tournament structure of this poker site is awesome; $18,000 guaranteed tournaments are offered daily. At the tournaments the low limit tables have a consistent accumulation of players, but that is not the case for the other limits.
There are two types of tournaments in Fortune Poker: Single Table tournaments and Multi Table tournaments. There’s also a daily $200 freeroll, as well as satellites to events such as the AussieMillions 2008 in Melbourne, Australia, the Genting Stanley National Poker Championship 2008 event, the Helsinki Freezeout 2008 in Helsinki, Finland, and the South African Poker Open 2008. The prize for the winner of the AussieMillions 2008 satellite is a 9,000€ package that includes the entry to the AUD$10,500 No Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event and accommodation/travel money.
Fortune Poker Software Features
The Fortune Poker software is OK but there’s room for improvement, mostly in the lobby: for instance, it doesn’t include any special features even though the always popular “find a friend” capability is present. The lobby displays various currencies splitting the user base into sub-sections based on their continent. This complicates the table listings and contributes to the overall lack of organization.
This software does have some cool table graphics, including a circular colored countdown timer around the username of each player. Even though multi-table play is supported, the interface is a bit slow; Fortune Poker is just not decently suited for multi-table play, and there’s no mini-view feature. After the end of every game, the “request hand history” option displays the information of the last five hands that you played. Overall, the software may seem a bit outdated but it works well.
