Empire Poker Overview
Empire Poker used to belong to the old Party Poker network before Party Poker moved onto its own platform and left a small network behind. In 2006, Party Poker acquired Empire back, so it is now a Party Poker skin but it still belongs to a smaller network. The software is the same as party Poker’s, which means it is state of the art and has great playability.
Empire Poker does not accept American players at the moment. Traffic remains good, however, and it is one of the most popular sites for ring games.
Their mission statement says:”The focus at Empire Poker is on fun, ease of use, reliability and security. Our software and systems are at the forefront of technological innovation, which allows us to deliver cutting-edge game features and functionality.”
Party Poker and Empire Poker are the two rooms on the Party Gaming Network, with Party Poker being the flagship site.
Empire Poker Game Features
Empire Poker offers only the most classic poker varieties: Hold’em, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo and Seven Card Stud Hi and Hi-Lo, as well as Blackjack for those who fancy a gamble. Tables are busy even off peak hours, with lots of Hold’em action both Limit and no Limit at mini-stakes but also at higher stakes up to $25/$50. Pot Limit Omaha has more traffic than Limit, but mainly at stakes under $2. In Hold’em and Omaha tables hold 10 or 6 players, and all Severn Card Stud tables have 8 seats.
Empire also offers a wide range of tourneys, from 1-table and multi-table Sit & Gos to large scheduled tournaments. There is a lot of Sit & Go action with buy ins all the way into $100. Single tables seat 10, and multi-table Sit & Gos accommodate 20 or 50 players and seem busier at buy-ins between $5 and $10. Multi table tournaments range between $1 and $1200, with plenty of freerolls, qualifiers and special tourneys to choose from.
Empire Poker Software Features
Empire also offers the Hellkat tournaments, which have a fixed time limit, and the “Steps” system of qualifying Sit & Gos that build up to a major tourney. Since Empire uses party poker’s software, they have all of Party’s features, such as player notes, stats, hand histories and resizable tables. Their site states: “The focus at Empire Poker is on speed, reliability and scalability, meaning the software and systems here at Empire Poker are at the leading edge of the industry. Through Party Gaming's innovations, we are able to offer the industry's highest level of security, as well as adding exciting new features frequently.”
