DoylesRoom Overview
Poker legend and WSOP champion Doyle Brunson only plays online at his very own poker site: Doyle’sRoom, where anyone can face him under the screen name “Tex Dolly”. Doyle’sRoom used to be part of the Tribeca network, but now they have joined the Microgaming Poker Network (Prima) family of sites, which is a medium to large network with about 20k total players at peak times.
Doyle’sRoom recently started accepting US players back, which means you get to test your wits against Mr. Brunson himself as well as his son Todd Brunson, and legendary pros Mike Caro, Minh Ly and Men Nguyen.
A positive aspect of Microgaming Network is that they offer casino games, so casino players are lured into the poker section where they become easy prey for more skilled and practiced players.
They share the same player base and software platform with all the other skins on the Microgaming network, so if you have played at sites such as CanBet Poker or Betway Poker, you will feel right at home.
DoylesRoom Game Features
DoylesRoom offers No Limit, Pot Limit, and Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit and Fixed Limit Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 5 Card Stud. Stakes range from micro ‘’Beginners Games” of a nickel all the way up to $100/$200 for both Fixed and No Limit games. Most of the Fixed Limit Hold’em action is at the $0.50/$1 through $2/$4 tables, whereas No Limit players primarily stick to $2/$4 and lower. You can find heads up, 6-seat and 10-seat tables for ring games.
DoylesRoom also has plenty of tournaments from which to choose: many Sit & Go options are available, from standard 10-person tables to short-handed and heads-up, and there are also multi-table Sit & Gos. Additionally, DoylesRoom has “Rounders” tables, which are special Sit & Gos which give players the chance to win their way into large tourneys by paying just a small buy-in.
Multi-Table tournaments are also abundant at Doyle’sRoom; they have guaranteed prize pools, re-buys, freezeouts and freerolls among other choices. The structure at Doyle’s Room is good, too – players start with 1,500 chips and blinds only go up every twelve minutes, so there is plenty of time to play solid poker.
DoylesRoom Software Features
DoylesRoom software is OK, with no really outstanding features. The card room graphics are clear and easy on the eyes, with a large green table top and well spaced player’s seats on a simple gray carpet. There are no avatars available nor coffee tables or plants to distract from the game, and the card room in general is very sparse and professional looking.
There is a text history account of the table action that scrolls up the right side of the card room, statistics and note-taking are available at the tables and hand histories can also be requested, as well as stored on your hard drive. DoylesRoom has a player search function, but no buddy list feature. Another exciting feature is the option to create private tournaments after each player’s taste.
DoylesRoom Support
DoylesRoom offers customer service via e-mail, a toll free telephone number and live online chat. Customer service representatives are helpful and friendly on live chat, and e-mail responses are usually fast, but not always accurate.
