Bugsys Club Overview
Bugsy’s Club was founded in 2003 by the founders of PokerPages.com, and is affiliated with Poker School Online. This makes for good traffic and plenty of inexperienced players around. Bugsy’s Club is named after famous gangster Bugsy Siegel, who started out in the mafia and went on to build the first major Vegas casino.
Bugsy’s Club accepts US players, and although their traffic is still a bit low it seems to be on the rise. Since they have standalone software and are not part of a network, their player base is limited at the moment to around 2000 players online at any given time.
Bugsys Club Game Features
Bugsy’s Club offers the main poker varieties (Hold’em, Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo, Seven-card Stud Hi and Hi/Lo) as well as Razz, and as a unique feature they also offer H.O.R.S.E. tournaments. As a site linked to a poker school, Bugsy’s is geared towards micro-stakes and low limits, and viewed flop percentages are usually high, sometimes up to 60%.
Ring games are available in all games and all limits, with micro stakes starting at $0.02/$0.05 and capping at a modest $20/$40. Most of the action is concentrated under $5. Tables have 6 or 10 seats. As a unique feature, many of the tables do not allow all-ins, and a few of them change between Hold’em and Omaha Hi/Lo every 10 minutes.
Sit & Gos are available in all games plus H.O.R.S.E., in 3, 6, 8 and 10-seat tables. Most of the buy-ins are $10 or less, going as low as $0.50 and as high as $100.
Tournaments are also concentrated in the lower end, with most buy-ins at $10 or less, although you can join tourneys for as low as $1 and as much as $214. They run guaranteed tourneys, as well as freerolls and staged qualifiers. Tournaments at Bugsy’s see a lot more traffic than the ring games.
Bugsys Club Software Features
Bugsy’s Club has its very own poker software, and it is one of just three online poker rooms to offer a full download version for Mac users.
The lobby is a bit crammed, but the top tabs make it easy to navigate. Graphics and sounds are crisp and understated, and there are no personalized avatars. Game speed is fast, with cards dealt quickly and very little waiting time between hands. There are two table size options for those who want to play several tables at once.
Some reviewers have recommended Bugsy’s Club for its note-taking and statistics, both especially useful in a small site where the player base is limited.
Bugsys Club Support
Bugsy’s Club offers help via live chat within the software, and also through several email addresses listed on the website. The FAQ is thorough, but the organization makes it difficult to find items – to amend this there is an “FAQ search” feature which turned out to be very useful.
