BetOnBet Poker Overview
BetOnBet has been in business since August 2003, and it is part of the large Microgaming/Prima Poker Network. Since Microgaming is one of the top networks, you can expect good software and anything between 12,000 and 20,000 players online at any time.
Besides poker, BetOnBet offers a unique betting exchange and a very popular casino (Net Entertainment software) offering more than 60 games. Support is offered in English, Spanish and Scandinavian languages.
They share the same player base and software platform with all the other skins on the Microgaming network, so if you have played at sites such as Purple Lounge or CanBet Poker, you will feel right at home.
BetOnBet Poker Game Features
BetOnBet Poker offers the traditional Hold’em, Omaha Hi/Hi-Lo and 7-Card stud, as well as 5-Card Draw, 5-Card Stud and 7-Card Stud.
There are plenty of Hold’em tables, neatly sorted by limit and stakes: Fixed limit tables go form $0.05/$0.10 to $150/$300, while Pot limit and No limit only go up to $100/$200. Most of the action concentrates at the No limit tables, but there is also plenty of action at other limits. There is a special section for beginners, with micro stakes from $0.05 to %0.20. Other exciting categories include Bad beat tables, where a player who loses with quad 8s or better can win the accumulated jackpot; TV tables which may be broadcast on Pokerzone TV; and the exciting Turbo tables where players have only 7 seconds to reach a decision.
Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo are available in all limits, with stakes from $0.10/$0.20 up to $250/$500, and most of the Omaha action seems to be at the Pot limit tables up to $5/$10 during off peak hours.
The other games are less busy, but there is still a lot on offer. 5-Card Draw comes in all limits, with stakes from $0.05/$0.10 to $10/$20, and has action at the lower stakes even off peak times. 7-Card Stud has actions in all limits, mainly in the games under $1, but you can play for as little as $0.25/$0.50 and as much as $200/$400. And finally, 5-card stud is available in all limits, with stakes from $0.25/$0.50 to $50/$100. There is very little action off peak hours, but you can probably get a game going.
BetOnBet Poker offers a variety of Sit & Go tournaments, both single- and multi-table, with buy-ins ranging from $0.10 to over $1,000. There are also several exciting special Sit & Gos at BetOnBet Poker, such as Rounders, Extreme Stack and TV tourneys. The Rounders work in levels: buy-in for round 1 is $5 and the top 3 get a free pass into the next level; if you make it all the way to round 5 (or pay the $550 buy-in) you can win up to $3000. There are also Extreme Stack tourneys, which start with twice the chips for twice the tournament action. BetOnBet Poker also offers TV tourneys, which may be broadcast on Pokerzone TV via delayed feed.
Multi-table tournaments are also abundant, with plenty of freerolls to choose from as well as buy-ins between $1 and $350, both in the rebuy and freezeout varieties. Other categories include a generous array of Guaranteed tourneys (and their satellites), Satellites to other tourneys, and of course TV tables for those who enjoy the limelight. A very attractive feature of BetOnBet is that you can create your own private tables (ring game, single- or multi-table tourney) by choosing game, limit, maximum number of players, and stakes. You can also make it password-protected so only friends can join.
BetOnBet Poker Software Features
BetOnBet Poker’s main lobby is striking in royal blue and white, and has an easy to navigate system with drop menus on the left and fully sortable lists in the main panel (like most Microgaming sites). Table info includes the table name and language, stakes, players/ seats, average pot, % of player to see flop and hands per hour. The main menu also has two very useful options: Quick Start, which takes you straight into a ring game or Sit & Go after you select a few preferences; and Quick Search, which filters games and shows only those that fit your specifications. A live display of the Bad beat jackpot is enticingly displayed, showing 5- and sometimes 6-figure sums.
The rooms at BetOnBet Poker are uncluttered to the extreme, with no extra graphics to distract you from the game: only a blue felt, wooden floor and black chairs. No player avatars are available.
The chat window is on the right side of the table, and you also have the “speech bubble” option to see a player’s messages by their seat. Beneath the table is a “show stats” button, which displays your stats for this table. Dealer action is fast and smooth, and the sound is crisp and nice. On top of the flop there is a text display of what your best hand is (i.e. Pair 9s), and below the flop you can see the size of the pot.
BetOnBet Poker, like most Microgaming sites, is well geared towards multi table players. There seems to be no limit to the number of tables you can open (we opened 8 without any problems), and there is the helpful “mini view” setting which shows you only the indispensable. You can also choose your preferred position in the table and be always seated there.
You can find a player at BetOnBet Poker, but it has no option to keep a Friend list. Player notes are easy to use, and even include colored tags that you can use to quickly identify players.
Your hand history is called “PlayCheck”, and can be accessed online, downloaded, or requested via email. At the time of publish there seem to be no historical player stats, only stats for the table you are currently playing, but it has good compatibility with Poker Tracker.
BetOnBet Poker uses Sun Microsystems Secure Random function for Java for their shuffling algorithms, and they are transparent about the randomness of their cards: “You can view the list of the pocket cards ranked by value or profit. You can also search for the results of each starting cards combination. You can also view a statistical analysis of 500,000 real money hands dealt in the Texas Hold´em poker game. If you are still not convinced, there are links to the raw data (the hand histories) on that page, if you would like to conduct your own tests.” All sent information is also heavily encrypted for your peace of mind.
