BetFair was founded in August 1999 by two individual Andrew Black and Edward Wray. BetFair is a standalone site that is a medium to large site. BetFair is also a very popular online casino and sportsbook. You will also find a lot of these gamblers on the poker tables. BetFair has several Poker Pros that play on the site and also write articles for the players to read. BetFair recently won the "Queen's Award", which is given by the Queen in 2003 and in 2008. Betfair Poker Game Features
BetFair offers cash games in No Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Hold'em, Fixed Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha. The stakes for the cash games range from $0.05/$0.10 all the way to $1,000/$2,000. Although, it is hard to find a game that high. The games tend to be very loose due to the amount of casino/sportsbook gamblers taking a "break" to play on the tables. Tables are set up with 9 seats, 6 seats and 2 seats.
BetFair also runs daily Single and Multi Table tournaments. BetFair has Super Turbo, Turbo, Standard, and Deep Stack tournaments with buy-in's ranging from freerolls to $1,000 plus! There are numerous Guaranteed tournaments with the top Guaranteed being $125,000. If you can not afford a buyin such as $550 that gets you directly into the 125K Guaranteed, then look to the many satellites that run through out the day.
Betfair Poker Software Features
BetFair's software is pretty straight forward and easy to use. The graphics are simple and easy to read with no avatars to get in the way. The lobby offers a filter feature for the players to find the max number of seats, stakes and game they wish to play. You also have the choice to download the complete version of BetFair or a smaller version. The smaller version is for older computers and does not take as long to download as the full version. You can also set your preferences to where your folded cards are displayed while the hand is still being played. A 4 color deck is also available and you can mute observer chat if you wish. BetFair also allows you to save your hand history by checking the box in the "Preference" section in the lobby.
